As I posted on the Sabres forums with all due respect to Lehner's personal problems and I am glad he is healthy. He did, however, come to the rink when he was with the Sabres not fully prepared to be the best he could be. He collected a pay cheque while doing this. I have a problem with that.

To further your point, looking at a collection of his advanced metrics (GSAA, Slot Sv% and the likes) in conjunction with his standard numbers has had him within the top 10-15 goalies in the league over the last 3 years. Playing on a bad team can do a number on your perception, but I think this is another good example of what happened with the Oilers and Dubnyk.

Like Edmonton, Buffalo failed to recognize the value they had and decided to lay the failure at the feet of their goalies rather than their D and systems play.
